Fun sailing on the river

Arden Sailing Club is a thriving club which has enjoyed many years of fun on the river Avon at Defford, near Pershore. There is organised dinghy racing on Wednesday evenings and Sundays during the summer along with many social events throughout the year. The club is an RYA approved training centre. We have a small fleet of club boats available and give friendly advice to new members encouraging them to take to the water in the improvers or full race programme or, of course, just for fun.

Winter Maintenance Day 1

Today was the first of four maintenance days and whilst it was cold and windy, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day.

The main aim today was to pollard four willow trees. 11 people reported for duty and with 2 chain saws and a reluctant dumper truck we had three sorted before the lunch break, after an excellent warming lunch the final tree was tidied up by mid afternoon. A good team effort and whilst there are other outside tasks that need doing, the ability to get this one done on the first day bodes well for the future.
